Saturday was insane. Have you ever spent eight hours at a mall? Have you ever not been able to sit down for more than five minutes in eight hours? Have you ever done BOTH? That was Saturday. Oh, and add 38 people ages 4-20. And 100+ clothing items. And makeup. And hairstyling. And a crowded, overheated dressing room. And a time limit. And a RUNWAY. Yeah, I was picked to do two runs of a fashion show on Saturday. Let me describe it:
I arrived there at 9 in the morning. I waited in a long, stuffy hallway with 38 other girls and guys. I waited for a hell of a long time to be assigned a place in either Macy's, Dillard's, or JC Penny's to get my makeup done for the show. Finally, I was assigned a counter along with four other girls. We power-walked to the store and found the counter.
They had no clue they were supposed to be doing makeup.
We ran back to the place where the show was taking place and then were sent to a completely different store and found the counter there.
They ALSO had no clue they were supposed to be doing makeup.
However, they were nice enough to send us to a different counter that they knew was, in fact, doing makeup.
They already had girls taking up the chairs. Sooo we waited.
Finally, we got our makeup done and power-walked up to the Master Cuts (I think that's the name). There, we waited. And waited. And waaaaiiiited. I got my hair done, and since it's short, it didn't take too long. I, unfortunately, had to abandon my long-haired friends and literally ran back to the meeting place and was only a minute late. However, they weren't ready. So I sat on the edge of the runway with some other girls for about four minutes.
We got hungry.
So, like soo many skinny little models do, we went to the nearest cookie place and bought cookies. I also got a mocha coffee drink!
We headed back to the meeting place and hung out by the runway for a while but couldn't sit down.
Finally, it was time to head back to the hall and backstage area to talk to the head honcho guy and his assistants. We all FREAKED and got into mega-model-mode when we were instructed to dress in our first outfit. I grabbed my purse, dashed to the dressing room (a huuuge black tent-like thing in the hall), and had to locate my outfit, which was actually rather cute!
I am no expert at getting dressed. In fact, I SUCK at undressing and dressing. I call myself the world's worst stripper quite often, actually! But after a few minutes, I was in my outfit and ultra-stuggling to get into the freaking Converse. I love Converse so much, but those things were being a nightmare! And they were 42 sizes too big!
Someone had to help me get them on.
So the waist of the jeans was a bit big, and I had no belt. As a result, I was pulling up my pants every few minutes. I also had a hat, so my hair was ruined. Luckily, the wax spray makes it easy to ruffle it up and get it looking good.
We waited for about twenty minutes and listened to instructions for the show. We were put in order in our different segments (I was in segment 2 and 5). I was the first girl in segment 2, so I was FREAKING OUT. I don't know why...after all, I've done shows before!
When it came time to get on the catwalk, I was fine. I got up there, did my thang, and I must say...I didn't look half bad on that video my mom got! XD
TIME TO CHANGE!
I ran as fast as I could back into the hall, and managed to pass the dressing room! I blanked and ran all the way back to the boys' room, thinking it was the girls' one, so I had to run all the way back! I found my second outfit and tried to change so fast that I almost fainted from the heat.
GORGEOUS outfit, though--white Guess tanktop, classy black Guess jacket with half-sleeves and silver buttons, black/white/dark red plaid skirt with three shining chains, red tights, and my goooorgeous black heels. They're like stadium pumps with black patent leather, but instead of white leather, it's just regular black leather in place of it so it's still a constrast. They're beautiful and I wear them whenever I can.
The outfit also called for seeexy black shades and a glittery bracelet. Not to sound full of myself, but I killed on the runway with that one! It was really me--classy, but with a rocker feel. A few people howled and hooted...they weren't people I knew.
After a twenty minute break that I spent getting a soft pretzel (so I wouldn't faint), it was time to do it all over again. I changed my moves at the end of the runway and it went really well.
I'm gonna miss the friends I made since most weren't from my agency. Oh, that's another thing--my agent was there, and she was crazy impressed by my "performance."
Then I had a voice lesson. By then, I was dead tired from the 8 hours spent at the mall, so my voice was soo weak.
Ugh, I'm still exhausted. It was REALLY fun even though it was so hectic! I wish the shows happened more often--I would do that every weekend!
Sunday, I was so tired I was dozing off everywhere I went. I only got about 6 hours of sleep when I needed double that. And I was SO easily pissed off today. Everything that usually got on my nerves was tripled in intensity. I listened to music to calm myself a bit. But I actually had to DO things today!!! DX Grr! Today was not a good day for doing stuff.
I did get new high heels, though. And an Ed Hardy "Love Kills Slowly" purse!! It's soo purdy. Oh, and a nice casual dress, too. That was the good part of the day. Eating at Long John Silver's was a bad part. The food was pretty good for fast seafood, but it was just soo salty. I felt really sick about an hour after eating. I was afraid I got the flu that's going around!! But i feel a little better now, so I think I'm okay.
Well, time to write then work on my summer assignment. Not a terribly busy week...I have a rehearsal on Tuesday and a modeling class on Saturday that I MUST attend so I can enter a drawing for a free photoshoot!!! Oh, do I want that! I don't like the results of my other one so much...one outfit was just SO unflattering. It made my legs look horrible!!!
OH, ONE MORE THING! There was an outfit at the fashion show that I nearly cried over because it was so stunning and so me. It consisted of black boots, black pants, and this jacket...oh, God...this JACKET! I would have paid $200 for that jacket.
It was black with a long line of big, gold buttons. It had a pretty stiff collar and a hood... It was kind of long for a jacket, but not past the butt, which is just how I like it. The way it was worn, with the hood up over a pretty red hat and red sunglasses...my God.
It SCREAMED "mysterious." And it screamed ME.
That exceptionally beautiful jacket wasn't by Guess. Or D&G. Or even Dillard's! It was...Hurley. My brother used to work there (now at HOT TOPIC!!! XD). But I've never seen a more expensive Hurley item...it's an $80 JACKET!!! Still, for the classy and stunning jacket, that's cheap! I couldn't afford it, though, so I was devastated.
THEN, by some miracle!!!--the lady who runs the Dillard's fashion shows that I model in walks up to say hi and sees me fawning over the jacket. She asks if I like it and I go off on how much I adore it and how I'm going to buy it for sure. And she suggests I wait two weeks for the next Dillard's fashion show where I can WEAR THE JACKET AND GET THE DISCOUNT THAT MODELS GET!!!! It's usually a 40% discount, but can be as low as 10%...but I have a $15 gift card! Either way, I can get it!!! It's PERFECT for Vegas's cold, dry winter air!
On top of that, I have black pants! And very classy and pretty black leather, high-heel boots with gold buckles to match the jacket's buttons! I JUST NEED RED SUNGLASSES!
I might marry the jacket.
I hope to post again soon!

May I have a taste of luck?
May I have a taste of deeper misery?
May I have a taste of greater happiness?
No?
Then let me taste music.
Then let me taste art.
Then let me taste love.
That will be tasting life.
